How Could You Be So Heartless?
Recently, Steven Charny, the Art Director for Rolling Stone, came to SCAD to give a lecture. During his presentation he discussed numerous illustrators and how their works were used in the magazine. Since I am a total connoisseur of all things pop culture, I was naturally intrigued by the presentation as well as inspired. I went home and set to work on sketches of celebrities who might work well in an illustration. How I settled on Kanye West, I am not really sure, but he is undeniably talented and definitely a character! He also has a much anticipated album coming out after taking a year long hiatus after the whole Taylor Swift debacle.
The image is entirely done by hand. It is a reductive lino cut print, which I did in my kitchen without a press, so my method of registration was a little questionable; however, I really like this print. It is really gorgeous in person and would make a great poster.
Anyway, I hope you like it and keep your eye out for many more lino cut, reductive prints of celebrities from me!

He is getting a big mention in President Bush's new book.................! Seems he is a real bad boy.
