Environmental Pet Peeve

For my second assignment in my Concepts & Composition course, I was asked to depict my environmental pet peeve.

While my heart breaks for polar bears and I'm all about "Going Green", those causes don't necessarily strike a cord with me personally. I wanted to do something that actually meant something to me. SO, after thinking long and hard, I came up with this image....

It is supposed to depict the fact that forest animals are being pushed out of their homes to make way for our homes. I have never been a fan of manufactured neighborhoods that lack any sense of character and charm. I also resent the neighborhoods like this that popped up all over my hometown when I was younger, as I was used to playing outside and it not being a rare occurrence to see a group of deer. However, once these neighborhoods were built, I saw deer less and less.

I hope this assignment was a success! I am not as happy with this one as I could be. If I had more time, I would make the animals pop a bit more.
