Summer Goal Week 2

Well, as you all know, I set a summer goal for myself last week, proclaiming that each week I would create an illustration inspired by this summer's hottest songs. AND, I am proud to say I have made it through to the second week without loosing steam or interest! This week's illustration is of B.o.B's song Airplanes.

I have absolutely no idea who B.o.B is and if his name is pronounced "Bob" or the actual letters "B-O-B", but I do know who the chick Haley Williams from Paramore is and my favorite part of the song is the chorus, which she sings. The above image is inspired by the line:

Can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars?

Let me know what you think of this new style I am experimenting with. I really liked a fabric illustration I did a few months ago, but the image did not translate as well when scanned. So, I am trying to mimic the sewing technique with pen. I am also working on creating backgrounds and loved the way that different patterns and colors, and stitches instantaneously created an awesome background in the fabric illustration. I think it was somewhat of a success. Now I need to work on blending colors and getting better with Photoshop!

Oh, and I need suggestions for next week's song!
